Associate Lab Technician

Fulgent Genetics is looking for an experienced, full-time, associate lab technician to join our fast growing laboratory.  This position is immediately available.

Responsibilities/Duties include (but are not limited to):

  • Perform DNA extraction from various specimen types, specimen Triage, PCR, qPCR, Sanger Sequencing, and/or other molecular assays as needed.
  • Maintain good time-management and organization under pressure.
  • Ability to efficiently and accurately handle high volume of samples in limited time.
  • Maintain good record keeping for all testing performed as mandated by established protocols at Fulgent.
  • Follow only approved laboratory procedures for all divisions of of clinical testing that the technician has received and completed training on.
  • Learn and assist with troubleshooting skills and be able to identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results. All such circumstances should immediately be brought to the attention of the lab supervisor.
  • Assist with daily routine work in maintenance of lab cleanliness and order
  • Assist with maintenance of stocked laboratory supplies and place orders in accordance to current established procedures as needed.
  • Completion of all assigned training courses in a timely manner as assigned by the compliance team.
  • Maintain open and honest communication with team members to promote a healthy and productive work environment for all.
  • Full compliance with established laboratory standards for safety, privacy and HIPAA regulations.
  • Report to the Lab supervisor or designated Senior Lab Technologist regarding all daily assigned duties or any issues and concerns related to job performance and safety.

Experience and Skills

  • Have earned a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in molecular biology, genetics, or related field. Sufficient previous work history in the listed fields may substitute educational requirements.
  • 1 or more years of experience in a clinical setting with hands-on involvement in molecular/genetics testing is preferred.
  • Must have great work ethic and immaculate attention to detail.

Laboratory Support Genetic Counselor
We are seeking an experienced, full-time, laboratory genetic counselor to work at our office in Temple City, CA. This position is immediately available. We are only considering on-site candidates at this time.
Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):
  • Liaison between Fulgent Genetics and other healthcare practitioners such as clinical genetic counselors, physicians, and clients pertaining to available testing options, test standards and limitations, laboratory reporting policies, etc.
  • Provide clinical expertise to curation scientists and directors with accessioning inquiries, test order modifications, and result interpretation
  • Contribute to test improvement and new test development
  • Assist with marketing team in patient and physician literature

Minimum Qualifications:

Next Gen Lab Technologist
The Next Gen Lab Technologist works under the direct supervision of the lab Supervisor or Director and performs duties delegated under the authority of CLIA 88 CFR Section 493.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the development and implementation of new procedures.
  • Use established molecular genetic methodology to perform and analyze a variety of standardized clinical laboratory tests. These tests will be for the purpose of diagnosis of molecular genetic disorders.
Qualifications:

Regulatory & Quality Compliance Manager
The Regulatory & Quality Compliance Manager will be responsible for providing leadership, technical expertise, direction and hands-on involvement in driving compliance to Quality and Regulatory requirements. Reporting to the Chief Scientific Officer, this role is responsible for the execution and continuous improvement of Fulgent’s Laboratory Quality Management System as well as compliance with regulatory standards, process implementations, documentation maintenance, and staff training.
Essential Job Duties
  • Provide leadership, technical expertise and hands-on participation to ensure adherence to quality and regulatory requirements of a genetic lab.
  • Lead the quality and regulatory initiatives for Fulgent Genetics’s compliance with CLIA, State of CA, CAP and other applicable State and Federal agencies.
  • Interpret regulatory requirements, develop quality and compliance standards, guidelines, and programs, and apply consistent regulatory standards throughout the laboratory departments.
  • Review, inspect, update, and create QA documents such as laboratory SOPs, regulatory guidelines, safety and environmental guidelines.
  • Develop SOP formats and maintain control of documents through MediaLab Document Control System.
  • Deliver training on SOPs, safety procedures, Inspection Readiness activities and education in support of quality and regulatory objectives and requirements.
  • Keep abreast of new or changing quality and regulatory practice standards within the industry.
  • Maintain and ensure applicable regulatory and internal QA system compliance for staff training/personnel files, master schedule, incidents, and deviation trending/tracking documentation.
  • Supervise and ensure all quality assurance (QA) activities for the laboratory including proficiency testing, method validation protocols, validation reports, test methods, general lab protocols and standard operating procedures are reviewed for regulatory compliance.
  • Provide management with written audit reports on a regular basis.
  • Lead all client audits and regulatory agency inspections as well as formal responses to their findings/recommendations.
  • Conduct internal inspections and maintain documents to ensure compliance with certification requirements, laws, regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Oversee performance improvement plan, identify, develop and implement strategies that result in improvement of best lab utilization practice, patient outcomes, as well as promotion of continuous improvement.
  • Lead and participate in audits and investigations for quality failures and non-conforming practices by identifying the root causes and implementing corrective actions.
  • Regularly communicate with and report to Chief Scientific Officer on the compliance status of the Quality and Regulatory requirements, including reporting on non-compliance and deviations.
  • Serve as the HIPAA Privacy Compliance Officer with responsibility of medical records release policies and procedures.
Job Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in in Life Sciences. Advanced Degree is highly preferred.
  • CGMBS License.
  • 3 years of experience in a clinical laboratory setting or biomedical regulated industry.
  • 1 year of experience in Quality/Regulatory Environment with demonstrated knowledge in state and federal regulatory requirements.
  • Proven experience in developing a Lab Quality Management System including experience with audits.
  • Knowledge of Good Laboratory Practice (GLP), Good Documentation Practice (GDP), International Organization Standardization (ISO), and FDA regulations.
